- No Mandatory Account Creation: You can access and utilize all core features of the app—including reading the Holy Quran Arabic script, reading Malayalam translations, accessing Thafseer commentaries, and listening to audio recitations—without creating an account or providing personal information.
- Optional Account Registration: If you choose to create an account (using email and password) via our cloud synchronization feature, your email address is used solely to authenticate your account and synchronize your bookmarks, last-read positions, and memorization progress across your devices.
- No Sensitive Personal Information Collected: The app does not collect, request, or store your physical address, phone number, contacts, financial data, or location.
By default, your reading bookmarks, last-read position, notes, downloaded Surahs, and personal preferences are stored locally on your device in secure app-private storage.
3. Microphone & Audio Permissions
The application does not continuously listen to, record, store, or transmit your voice. If a recitation verification or speech-assisted Quran memorization feature is used, any microphone access requested (`android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO`) is strictly used on-demand when you explicitly initiate that specific feature.
Audio Processing: Recitation and memorization audio inputs are processed in-memory or locally on your device for immediate recitation feedback. The app does not record, upload, archive, or share your voice recordings with external servers or third parties.
Permission Denial: You are free to grant or deny microphone permission in your Android system settings. Denying this permission will not affect reading, translations, Thafseer, or audio playback in any way.
4. Quran, Malayalam Translation and Thafseer
The application provides access to authentic Holy Quran Arabic script, Malayalam translations, comprehensive Thafseer explanations (including Cheriyamundam and Amani Thafseer), high-quality Arabic recitations from renowned Qaris, and Malayalam audio explanations.
Local Device Storage & Offline Functionality: To enable fast and reliable offline access, downloaded Quran texts, Malayalam translations, Thafseer databases, and audio files are stored in your device's app-private storage using local database technologies (Hive CE). You can manage, clear, or delete downloaded audio and content at any time via the Storage settings within the app.
5. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, trade, lease, or monetize any user data.
Data is only transmitted to external infrastructure in the following strictly limited circumstances:
- Cloud Synchronization (When Signed In): If you create an account, your user ID and reading preferences (bookmarks, reading plans, and last-read ayah) are securely transmitted to Google Firebase Cloud Firestore to sync your progress across devices.
- Media Retrieval: When you stream or download Quran recitations or Malayalam audio, your device connects directly to trusted content delivery servers (e.g., EveryAyah, Islamic Network, MP3Quran, Thafseer Amani) solely to fetch the requested audio files.
6. Internet Access & Device Permissions
The application requests standard Android permissions to provide a seamless user experience:
- Internet Access (`INTERNET`, `ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE`): Used to stream and download recitation audio files, retrieve Malayalam audio/thafseer files, and sync bookmarks if you are logged in.
- Foreground Service (`FOREGROUND_SERVICE`, `FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK`): Required to ensure continuous, uninterrupted Quran recitation and Thafseer playback when the app is in the background or when your screen is turned off.
- Notifications (`POST_NOTIFICATIONS` on Android 13+): Used solely to display the media player playback notification (play, pause, next/previous ayah) in your device's notification tray and lock screen.
- Wake Lock (`WAKE_LOCK`): Prevents your device processor from sleeping during active audio playback.
7. Third-Party Services
The app uses only essential, industry-trusted service providers to deliver backend features:
- Google Firebase Authentication: Provides secure, encrypted sign-in and user authentication for cross-device synchronization (Firebase Privacy Policy).
- Google Cloud Firestore: Encrypted cloud database for syncing user bookmarks, reading history, and memorization plans (Google Cloud Privacy Notice).
- Public Quran Audio CDNs: Open-access media networks (Islamic Network, EveryAyah.com, MP3Quran.net, ThafseerAmani.com) used strictly to stream publicly available audio files.
- Advertising: None — The application is completely 100% ad-free. No advertising identifiers or ad network tracking SDKs (such as AdMob) are integrated.
8. Children's Privacy
Malayalam Quran & Thafseer is an educational and religious application designed for general audiences of all ages, including children learning to read and memorize the Holy Quran.
The application does not knowingly collect, solicit, or maintain personal information from children under the age of 13. All Quran text, translations, and audio features can be used freely without any account or registration.
9. Data Security
We implement industry-standard technical measures to protect your information. All communications between the app and external services (such as Firebase and audio CDNs) are encrypted using standard Transport Layer Security (TLS / HTTPS).
While we maintain rigorous security practices, please note that no method of electronic transmission or mobile storage is 100% immune to vulnerabilities, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
